Special Report

This is a SPECIAL REPORT to all of our members and supporters who believe in our unique and historic quest and wish to contribute to the HALIFAX PROJECT.

We are making good progress in our work to get a commercial contract for Deep Ocean Research Ltd. and the Polar Prince. When we have acquired this contract we will be able to “piggyback”our historic 2010 sonar survey on this commercial work to find Canada’s most historic bomber aircraft, RCAF Halifax LW170, off the coast of Ireland. Our next report will have more details on these activities in this regard. LW170 will be found!

But this special report is not about these diligent activities. This is an urgent appeal for contributions and funds to help bring back to Canada’s Bomber Command Memorial Museum in Nanton, Alberta a large group of rare Halifax bomber components discovered in Europe !!

Halifax 57 Rescue (Canada), with this author as the recon and point man, was advised of the parts by some warbird allies and friends of our cause only 3 weeks ago. I hastily rallied our Directors for a consensus and we all agreed we must acquire these parts for they are unique and absolutely vital to any future Halifax bomber rebuild.

In our hour of discovery and financial need a Canadian patriot and proud son of a Canadian veteran stepped forward to provide the purchasing funds for these valuable Halifax parts. Joining us last year with one of the best donations from a member, Clint Cawsey of Canmore, Alberta was approached only 2 weeks ago and was given a full briefing on this great opportunity to acquire these unique Halifax parts. He was equal to our needs and donated the ENTIRE amount required to purchase the Halifax parts we discovered. Talk about the coming to the rescue and having faith in us !

I see this now as “the beginning of our real beginnings” thanks to Clint’s vision and timely generosity to our cause.

BUT we are not out of the woods yet because now Halifax 57 Rescue (Canada) must ship these parts from Europe (location secret) to Nanton, Alberta across the Atlantic and across our nation.

Please be patient as I explain the details below.

We need your help, my friends, to provide the funds to help pay for the shipping costs of a container across this great distance. The shipping costs will be in the order of ($ 10,000 - 12,000).

After conferring with our Directors and our partners, the Directors of the Nanton Lancaster Society Air Museum, we realize that in the early part of the 2010 season we must live up to our financial obligations and that funding is short to cover these unique Halifax parts shipping costs AFTER the purchase .

We have the parts now and all we have to do is get them home.

Please do not underestimate the importance of this acquisition of these parts. Having been involved in the recovery of Halifax NA337 from Norway and LW682 from Belgium and having conferred with our Director George Rosskopf, an important engineer in the entire rebuild of Halifax NA337, we both agree these parts will be huge in our ultimate goal to have a Halifax at Canada’s Bomber Command Museum.

If any of you sense the importance of this unique opportunity and want to make a substantial donation in this timely situation please contact me below at one of the 2 addresses or phone numbers. I have photos, videos, parts lists, and details on all the parts we have acquired. I will be very happy to share with you all the info. on the parts and their importance if you feel you would like to commit to contributing to the shipping costs.

The main reason for the lid on the security (at this time in February except to those who need a detailed explanation to donate to the shipping cost situation) is to abide by a request for confidentiality from the allies who helped us find the Halifax parts.

Halifax 57 Rescue has agreed, however, that in May this year we will be putting out a special report on the full adventure to acquire and ship these parts for the Halifax Project. I am sure there will be much coincident press and media interest with this report so we are preparing for this and you know it will certainly strengthen our cause.

Till then, we hope you will trust us, as in the past, and be in tune to with us as to our needs and concerns for the Halifax Project. We must brings these parts to Canada’s Bomber Command Memorial Museum and continue on in our ultimate quest.

Hang on to your hat and come with us as our quest continues. You will not be disappointed when May arrives and our public announcements and special news reports are released.

“We leave no Halifax behind” and,

Press on Regardless…

Sincerely,

Karl Kjarsgaard
